CPH Harbor Rise
Location: Copenhagen, Denmark
Materials: Black locust, White oak
Size: 19,470 sq. ft
CPH HARBOR RISE is a swim bath and sauna with facilities for the community. Located in Copenhagen, Denmark, the design emphasizes the future of the harbor and its transition from industrial to recreational. HARBOR RISE explores the site and its natural landscape to create edge conditions and public areas for leisure . The project emerges as a continuation of Refshalevej Street, elevating three points: Cafe, Sauna and a Store to engage with the street.
The parametric facade offers visual privacy and serves as a shading device, without interrupting sea views. The design includes areas that bring people closer to the water, with dedicated access points to allow direct entry to the waterfront.

PROGRAM
The  program is divided in three wings, one houses a sauna designed for quiet contemplation, another accommodates bath facilities and a café, and the third engages with the street through a shop offering swimming essentials for performance and comfort.  While the roof serves as a seating area where visitors can relax and dry off. The third wing extends CPH HARBOUR RISE'  presence to the street along with seating areas, green spaces, and bike parking for the community.
SAUNA
Saunas are a part of the culture and identity; they serve as spaces for relaxation, recovery, and even business meetings and social activities. At CHP HARBOR RISE, the layout flows from the lobby to dedicated sauna and outdoor bathing areas, with the sequence splitting left and right to provide designated spaces for each gender.
BATH
Cold baths are more than just a hobby for Danes; they offer numerous health benefits, such as boosting the immune system and reducing stress. CHP HARBOR RISE provides facilities including basins, restrooms, changing rooms, and outdoor showers. Open to all, it promotes inclusivity and fosters a sense of community through shared swimming experiences.
SECTION BB
STRUCTURE
The floating structure enables an extension over the water to host additional activities, with RISE HARBOR strategically located on the water to let users swim while enjoying a unique and engaging setting. The building rests atop a concrete platform supported by floating devices, anchored to vertical elements that hold the structure in place while allowing for movement as water levels fluctuate.
The floating structure allows CPH HARBOR RISE to serve as an observatory to understand the natural environment of the Harbor, offering connections that go beyond wellness practices.
